what are we doing?
Memorial Day weekend…we are in the next century and still having wars, still
killing those who don’t agree with us, and still saying it’s okay.
last night we watched a dvd about the space station, where off we go
into the blue sky to look down on the planet Earth. there are no borders
or boundaries to be seen from one hundred and fifty miles above.
it’s just one big blue berry floating in the air…what’s holding the planet
in place, we really do not know, but we are still finding faster ways to kill each
other…drone bombers, radiation in the air and in the water,
genetically modifying our food and drugging ourselves to death
to the delight of pharmaceutical companies. a festival of foolishness?
Peter and i discussed Earth wars at noon today…
but, small pockets of good work have popped up all over the planet.
they are changing the way people think. the hippies of the sixties
have resurfaced as a movement to question banks,
to question Wall Street, to ask in a bigger or more underground way,
“what are we doing?” and is it really what’s to be continuing?
i told Peter out on the West Coast that,
“real change doesn’t happen as fast as we wish it would.”
it’s out on top, it’s underground, and it’s in the middle,
but there is nothing that’s constant but change.
