honeybees

honeybees are so tiny.
in my childhood, i perceived them as so annoying and such a threat.
what they were, was astinging hazard.
what they were, was something to kill quick so they wouldn’t hurt us.
what they were, was ecchh yukk, get them out of here.
years later, honeybees are a blessing. honeybees pollinate our crops.
honeybees are what makes seeds work, agriculture grow, the harvest comes in,
thanks to the so tiny, aggravating, annoying, stinging honeybee..without them, no pollinating plants.
my view of honeybees is only another place, where shifting of perception puts me
at a responsible advantage. given the overview of what’s happening over the world, with honeybees and hive collapse…
the damage that genetically altered foods causes to insect pollination
and the veil that Monsanto is reeking on our world.
i can make more wise choices how to use product buying money
to support ethical and moral companies, small farms and beekeepers
in New England…that’s mine to step in and spend the extra money
to shop local. shop non-gmo and plant our property with more
bee nurturing wild flowers and perennial herbs that support and sustain bees,
and i re-pledge myself to this process of human progress.
